Continue reading only if you agree with all statements:

  • Our society needs positive, radical change.
  • Our opinion has near zero impact on public policy
  • Money is still necessary for civilization.
  • Better and worse forms of money exist.
  • Adopting a better money system improves civilization.
  • Adopting a perfect money system would radically improve civilization.

1. What would be considered perfect money?

a) Money communicates value

  • Communicating is best achieved through a unit with a stable denominator
  • A unit with a volatile denominator distorts the communication of value
  • Therefore, the supply issuance of money should be stable.

+

b) Money communicates value

  • Value is subjective
  • Subjective value is produced through an objective amount of time & energy (work)
  • Work is performed by humans
  • Each human possesses a finite supply of time & energy
  • Therefore, the supply of money should be finite.

a) + b) = Perfect money would have a stably issued, finite supply

2. What would a perfect money system look like?

  • It has a stably issued, finite supply of units
  • It has 1 immutable, publicly verifiable ledger
  • It has no barriers to participate
  • It has zero downtime
  • It is impossible to gain wealth through violence
  • Running it does not harm the environment
  • We are not coerced to use it
  • We are not coerced from using it
  • We can transact globally
  • We can transact peer to peer
  • Our wealth is unconfiscatable
  • Our wealth is unknown to others
  • Our transactions are private
  • Our transactions are instant
  • Our transactions cannot be blocked
  • Our transactions have zero fees
  • The rules are easy to understand
  • The rules are impartial
  • The rules cannot be changed without an extremely high degree of consensus from its participants

3. Would you personally add, remove, or change any of the above? Why or why not?

4. What best matches this perfect money system?

5. Are you advocating for it?
